Many people seem to think that Europe is on the way out. The end of a civilisation, like in Robert Harris's novel The Second Sleep is set in a post Apocalypse England.

 I will turn 50 in a few days and I have come to realize

that a lot of people under 40 do not read.

And they do not have the same understanding of Europe as I do.

The people I mean have university degrees, are polite, savvy and keen to learn.

I have spent most of my life in Europe and I keep thinking what a beautiful culture we have.
